Step 1: Read Pre-requirment

1. The following rooting process is compatible only with Redmi Note 4. Don’t try on any other model.
2. Make sure bootloader of your device is unlocked. If not, check HERE for complete tutorial.
3. The battery level on your handset should be maintain to at least 60% to avoid unnecessary power-off between the rooting processes.
4. Backup all your data to a safe location in order to restore if any data loss occurs.

Step 2: Enable USB Debugging and Developer options

1. Go to the main Settings on your Xiaomi device.
2. Now scroll down until you find ‘About Phone’ option and tap on it.
3. You need to locate MIUI Version tab on the handset.
4. Now tap the MIUI version for about 7-10 times continuously until you see a message “You have enabled developer option” on your device screen.
5. Now you have successfully enabled Developer option tab on your Xiaomi mobile.
6. Now you need to go back to main settings and then launch the Additional Settings.
7. From there tap on “Developer options” and enable it.
8. Now scroll down and find ‘USB Debugging’ option. Just toggle on it to enable the USB debugging on your Xiaomi device.

Step 3: Install TWRP Recovery on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

1. Download ADB & Fastboot Tool and unzip it.
2. Download SuperSu.zip file and save on your device storage.
3. Download TWRP Recovery file on your PC and copy it to the ADB & Fastboot Tool folder. Make sure to rename it to recovery.img.
4. Go to ADB folder and launch command window. To do so, press and hold the shift key and Mouse Right click anywhere in ADB & Fastboot Tool folder.
5. Now you need to connect the device with PC using a USB cable and giving the following command adb devices and hit enter to check connection your phone with PC.
6. Now giving the following command adb reboot bootloader and hit enter to reboot your phone into bootloader (fastboot) mode.
7. Now giving the following command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and hit enter to Flash TWRP Recovery.
8. Now giving the following command fastboot boot recovery.img and hit enter to reboot the device to recovery mode.
9. Once you’re in the recovery mode, select your preferred language and set it what you want. Just swipe to allow modifications.

Step 4: Root Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

1. On recovery mode, go to “Wipe” settings and perform “Format Data”.
2. Now from Recovery main menu, choose “Install Zip’ and locate “SuperSu.zip” file which you have copied to device storage.
3. Swipe to start flashing SuperSU on your device. Once done, choose “Reboot” to boot your device into normal mode.
4. Finish. You have successfully rooted Redmi Note 4 and installed TWRP Recovery. For confirmation, do download and install an app called “Root Checker” on your device.
